The Grace of Christ be with you!
“Make friends for yourselves by means of dishonest wealth…” (Luke 16:9). What is Jesus getting at in this passage? One consideration to ask is this; what wealth do we have that is unearned and how can we be stewards of this wealth who put it to work to foster reconciliation with others?

Hope of resurrection.

Communication with God through prayer.

Peace that passes understanding.

Worship.

Forgiveness.
In the parable from Luke 16ff, money is a tool that can be used to make friends. That is, in the same way that the clever manager forgave debts that were owed to his master in order to make friends, the church forgives the debts that others owe to God in order to be reconciled to them.

COMMUNITY OUTDOOR WORSHIP: Join us for worship on World Communion Sunday at the Ashe County Farmer's Market in West Jefferson, NC (map) on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 10am. This combined service is sponsored by MJPC, and the First Baptist and United Methodist Churches of West Jefferson. Bring a chair and join us! In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at the First Baptist Church adjacent to the Farmer's Market. This service can also be live-streamed via the MJPC web site HERE.
MJ's PUPPET COMPANY! The puppets are here! All kindergarten through grade school kids are invited to join the puppets for Bible stories, games and songs every Sunday morning at 10am downstairs in our puppet room at MJPC.
