The Grace of Christ be with you!

The prophecy of Isaiah from Isaiah 2:1-5 is a wonderful gift to receive as we prepare for the advent of Christ. Yet, rather than intending us to wait, the prophet offers this vision of God establishing world peace in order to inspire the faithful to lead the way. How can the church make the coming reign of peace a tangible if incomplete reality in the world today?

  • Proclaim the peace Christ made on the cross.

  • Establish a public ministry of peace in the community.

  • Invite all peoples to visit and share hospitality of Christ.

  • Teach the ways of God in light of the cross of Christ.

  • Speak for the outcast and share God’s blessing with them.

  • Make the gospel accessible to all of God’s children.

  • Share Isaiah’s vision of God’s plan of peace for all nations.

  • Call for mediation of conflicts whenever possible.

  • Promote understanding between peoples & celebrate diversity.

  • Take active stance for social justice in society and world.

  • Practice non-violence and return love for hate.

The ministry of the church of Jesus Christ can be summed up in this way:

The church as an embassy of peace:

  1. Proclaims the gospel of peace to all nations in order to reconcile sinners to God and then to one another through faith in Christ.

  2. Teaches the way of Christ which is the way of peace.

  3. Begins the work of beating swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks in its ministries of service and social justice.

Blessings, Will
